Superior Achievement: JOYCE MARTY
Joyce, age 70, has been a member of the Auburn Women's Bowling Association for 50 years. She started bowling at the age of 18 in a league at the Jordan School Lanes where she averaged in the 150's. Subsequently Joyce joined leagues at Cedar House, Polish Falcons, Rainbow and Cayuga Lanes where she improved her average to well over 180. From 1956 to 1983, she captured 28 team league titles. She has participated in over 20 AWBA local tournaments. In 1983, she was a member of the winning team and went on to take the scratch singles, scratch doubles and scratch all events titles.

Joyce qualified for every Women's Citizen Masters that she entered. She reached the final 8 many times and captured the championship title in 1976.

Joyce has rolled numerous 600 series, her highest being 646 with a high game of 279. She has bowled in many 600 club tournaments both locally and statewide. She took first place in the local 600 club mother - daughter event, also the NYS class “B” (846- 4 game total), the class “C” (738) and the NYS regional roll-off in 1990. She teamed up with Butch Dunham to win the 1981 600-700 club mixed doubles event and again in 1988 with Rusty Clifton.

She has also qualified for the Syracuse masters and was champion of TV's Syracuse Bowls skins game by rolling 3 strikes in the tenth frame to win by one pin.

Joyce is also a great advocate for the game through her 15 years of coaching the junior bowlers at the Rainbow Lanes. She also bused the juniors to tournaments from 1975 to 1990. She currently takes children with special needs to bowl on Saturday mornings as well as 15 or more seniors once a month from Syracuse's Pace 1.

Joyce Marty is a prominent name in Auburn bowling and it is with great honor that we induct her into the Auburn Women's Bowling Association Hall of Fame for Superior Achievement.
