Ever want to witness the making of a 900 Series?
The Dale Biss Memorial League bowlers were treated to a special night of bowling courtesy of Jim Melfi.
Bowling on lanes 3 and 4, Jim began his first game with 12 solid strikes in a row. Count them...12.
Jim began his second game with 12 solid strikes in a row. Count them...12. This not a repeat, that's 12 more strikes for a running total of 24 so far. Keep reading.
Jim began his third game with 1 solid strike then left a stubborn 10-pin in the 2nd frame. Jim then tossed 7 more in a row. Let me do the math, that's 25 in a row to begin the night and 32 out of 33 and still a possible 880 series with one frame to go.
With "all hands on deck" watching Jim in the tenth frame, a 7-pin remained standing on his delivery and a new Auburn USBC high series would not be achieved this night. Jim left another 7-pin on his fill ball finishing the night with 858...probably high for the league this season and for many seasons.
Not since Ron Dewey tossed 26 in a row several decades ago has Rainbow Lanes been treated to this much success on the lanes. Mike Sheehan was close several weeks ago with a "23-bagger", on the same set of lanes. Mike finished with 23, Jim began with 25...incredible bowling fellas.
To see a short movie on Jims 12th strike click on the image above....this is one the "String Killer" didn't get.
Congratulations Jim on your fan-tas-tic score.
